England banned 3200 hooligans from FIFA World Cup

British authorities announced that 3200 known hooligans are banned from leaving in June to South Africa where they should support England national team on FIFA World Cup matches.
"Prohibition of going to a football match proved to be highly effective in preventing known troublemaker to go to these matches", explained a spokesman.
These hooligans will need to surrender their passports to police during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
After the World Cup 1988 and Euro 2000 which were marked by violent incidents involving the English fans, especially in Marseille and Charleroi, British authorities have stepped up preventive measures. Since then, England has recorded great progress in the fight against violence in football, and measures have proven to be successful in preventing incidents.
